51% Human for Healthcare

Every consequential business decision is a human decision.

51% Human helps leaders understand the human conditions shaping consequential outcomes — before deciding what to do about them.

We are beginning with healthcare — where the weight of a decision is measured in the lives and experiences of patients, families, clinicians, and communities.

Why now

Speed doesn't fix a bad explanation.
It scales it.

AI is shortening the distance between decision and action. Organizations can analyze more, decide faster, and act at greater scale.

As organizations accelerate HOW, getting WHY right becomes increasingly important. And before determining WHY, 51% Human makes sure we understand WHO.

The business problem

Signals aren't explanations.

Organizations often have enormous amounts of information telling them WHAT is happening. But a signal does not necessarily explain WHY it is happening.

The costly shortcut

What we seeWhat we assumeWhat we do

51% Human creates disciplined space to understand the people inside the outcome before deciding why it is happening and what to do.

The 51% Human process

Slow down at the point where explanation becomes action.

01

What

What's happening?

Start with a consequential, measurable outcome that isn't moving the way leadership expected.

02

Who

Who's living it?

Understand the people inside the outcome and the human conditions shaping what is happening.

03

Why

Why is it happening?

Bring human understanding together with operational, financial, technical, clinical, and other evidence. Test the current explanation.

04

How

How should we respond?

Let the evidence determine what should happen next. We don't enter with a predetermined solution.

05

What changed?

Did it work?

Return to the original outcome — and ask what changed for the people living it.

The central test

Does understanding WHO change WHY?

We don't assume it does. We find out.

Sometimes WHO changes WHY. Sometimes it strengthens the explanation leadership already had. Sometimes the primary constraint is operational, structural, financial, or technical. The goal is a better-supported explanation — not a predetermined human explanation.

The depth of WHO

WHO isn't a data point.

People are not another dataset being inserted into a decision model. Decisions ultimately land on actual people. They are the reason the model exists.

Understanding WHO means understanding the conditions people are actually living inside — and how those conditions interact with the system around them.

Human accountability

An outcome can move and still fail the people inside it.

Did the organizational outcome move?

Return to the original measure and see what the response actually changed.

What changed for the humans inside it?

Human judgment keeps a deciding vote. We don't call an outcome better when its human consequences are unacceptable.

Founding engagements

Real problems. Real evidence. No predetermined solution.

We’re taking on a small number of real, consequential problems through 51% Human Founding Engagements. A good one sounds like: “We've invested in this. We've tried things. And the outcome still isn't moving the way we expected.”

You bring

  • One consequential stuck outcome
  • What you've already tried
  • The evidence you already have
  • Access to the people closest to it

You get

  • A clearer explanation of what's holding the outcome in place
  • Competing WHYs tested against the evidence
  • What to do next — and what not to do yet

The people

Built at the intersection of people, business and technology.

51% Human brings together experience in business transformation and digital product and AI — different lenses for understanding why important outcomes aren't moving and what to do next.

Different lenses. One question: What will actually move the outcome?

A simple place to start

Bring us one stuck outcome.

Baseline. Current explanation. What you've tried. That's enough to start.
